Dean's attempts to dismiss criticism for separating Nani and Lilo has a lot of bullshit and ignorant logic to it, but this particular explanation is by far the stupidest.
Tumblr media
Nani having no remaining family or trusted neighbours or friends to take Lilo in wasn't a plot hole for the remake to fix. It's the whole fucking reason there's even a conflict about Lilo's custody in the first place.
Tumblr media
In the original film, the threat of Cobra possibly taking Lilo away and putting her in the foster system isn't just Nani being sad and sentimental that she can't see her sister anymore (like the remake implies).
It's the very real danger of a vulnerable (and heavily autistic-coded) indigenous little girl being sent against her will to live with complete strangers, who may not understand or accept her individuality, abuse her or God knows what else. And neither Nani or Lilo herself have any say in the matter.
If Nani did have a close friend, neighbour or even another relative that could look after Lilo on behalf, that would have been the first option well before Cobra and child services ever got involved. Which is exactly why the original film includes no such character.
Which is where the issue of Tūtū and the new ending in the remake comes in.
Tumblr media
If Tūtū is able to talk to the social worker at the last minute and arrange to become Lilo's guardian, then it can only mean that was able to do so the entire time, yet she inexplicably chose not to, even when knowing full-well what was at stake and seeing for herself how the sisters were struggling. And from Nani's evident surprise in the ending, Tūtū clearly never even entertained this idea to her at any point before springing it on her here.
Even worse, since Nani has been forced to surrender Lilo to the state, rather than giving her custody to Tūtū directly, the state now has full freedom to change their minds and send her where and whenever they want, and neither Nani nor Tūtū would have the power to do anything about it.
Which, again, wouldn't have been an issue if this really nice, caring and loving neighbour, who is definitely a good character that we should like and root for, had stepped in for Lilo and Nani as soon as their parents died. But because the rest of the plot still has to follow the original (despite her presence radically changing the circumstances) she just… didn't do that. So now this new solution is too little, too late, and the film ends with virtually nothing changing for Nani and Lilo's dilemma compared to the start of the film.
Nani surrendering Lilo to the state is already a horrible ending regardless of who she goes to, but the very existence of Tūtū as a character actively undermines the rest of the story, and it ironically creates a major plot hole where they were trying to amend a non-existent one.
Oh, and by the way, Dean. Y'know the whole thing about how an auntie or uncle could have stepped in to help the sisters?
Tumblr media
They did get an auntie and uncle in the original, but you made one of them irrelevant and you made the other one the villain for no reason!

I find it unrealistic that Dumbledore would have such a nicely shaped butt with no one in the movies commenting on it. Not even a little comment? Not even a look at it? Plot hole.

It really bugs me when a fandom tries to come up with Watsonian answers to continuity errors when the Doylist answer is just that the writer made a mistake. That's it. There's no canonical solution, there's no in-universe justification, the writers just messed up. One line from season 10 contradicts a line from season 2 because season 2 aired 8 years earlier and had different writers and it wasn't considered an important enough line to codify as part of series continuity. Creators aren't fanboys of their own work. They don't obsess over minute details like that, it's just a job for them. Some showrunners might plant hints, but I assure you that the vast majority of plot holes/retcons are just mistakes because pobody's nerfect.
I understand that part of the fun of fandom is geeking out over content like this, but I think it's important to take a step back and acknowledge that sometimes things aren't going to be 100% internally consistent. You can have fun and speculate about the implications of a continuity error, but don't bend over backwards to try and make it make sense. I don't understand people who can only enjoy a show if every aspect perfectly slots into every other aspect with no room for human error.

How I Filled in The Little Mermaid’s BIGGEST Plot Hole:
Tumblr media
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “But if Ariel just wrote everything down, she would’ve solved everything!”
But NOOOOOO. There’s a good reason why Ariel didn’t write Eric the truth:
1. She IS shown to be writing, as evidenced by the prequel tv series (Which does a lot of good worldbuilding- and it’s on Disney+ if you wanna binge it).
2. She’s more of a doer than of a passive person. Throughout the movie, she SHOWS Eric the sweet and adventurous girl she truly is, and Eric falls for her that way. Actions speak louder than words.
3. . This is the most important point. If Ariel really DID tell Eric about her situation via writing, she could’ve exposed all of Atlantica to the surface world and thrown them under the submarine bus. She had to keep her origins a secret, or Atlantica would have been in SERIOUS TROUBLE- not just from Ursula, but from humans looking to seek it out. And plus, after the events of the movie, the human world KNOWS of the merpeople and they’re both on good terms!! And also, although Ariel’s characterized as naive and trusting, she didn’t want to expose Atlantica for the sake of her friends, sisters, and her subjects- even though she was already defying her father. She only considered the danger posed by humans towards Atlantica because she remembered some of her father’s words.
Overall thoughts on how I filled up this plot hole? And how it makes sense.

Plot hole spotted!
So the snake scene could only happen because the Maitlands released Betelgeuse and "did not put him back" per Juno's scolding. Barbara calls "home, home, home" to free herself and Adam from the model and Betelgeuse constructs an elaborate ruse to make it appear as if he is still trapped.
But he's not.
And then the giant snake terrorizes everyone.
In Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Rory releases Betelgeuse during the therapist scene, much like Barbara, and does not put him back. Lydia calls home three times to escape with Rory, but Betelgeuse is still free.
There is no repercussion for this oversight.
I think somebody just wasn't paying attention.

Got around to watching the Miraculous: London special last night and two things still bug me. 1) Minor, but.... why is this the London special when the only bits that are actually in London are rescuing Kagami and Adrien from their isolation chambers? The rest is in the burrow and Paris..... I guess they couldn't double-dip Miraculous Paris, so they used the secondary location????
2) The main thing that bugs me, though, is the GLARING plot hole that is the entire special. Forgive me if this has already been discussed when the special dropped on the 5th. I haven't checked the tags quite yet.
So, the WHOLE PLOT is because the future Bunnyxes* fade from existence and the entire burrow is shutting down due to time ending. The character formerly known as Lila made a wish, and the entire universe is being erased to be rewritten, as Sass had explained to Luka in "Ephemeral". There is no future because that universe no longer exists to HAVE a future.
EXCEPT!
The WHOLE POINT of the climax of "Re-Creation" (season 5 finale) is that Gabriel succeeded in making his wish.
Didn't- Didn't that then erase their universe and re-write it? Just as it did when Lila made her wish or when Gabriel made his originally in "Ephemeral"?
Wouldn't it have collapsed the burrow the same way that it did in the London special? Why did Alix panic this time, but not the previous one (I'm not counting "Ephemeral" since 15yo Alix wasn't in the burrow at that time)? Did the future Bunnyx(es) not disappear when Gabriel made his wish for some reason??? Was that wish somehow different???
*BTW, where did 70yo Bunnyx come from? Why wasn't she there the whole time? Does she randomly pop in-and-out of the burrow? Does Alix at other ages just kinda pop in-and-out of the burrow? Since we never see other-ages-Alix in the burrow does that mean Alix only ever really uses her powers to hide when she's 15 and again in her 20s? But not again until she's 70? How does that even work? Time doesn't really move forward inside the burrow, so shouldn't it be then filled with every Alix of every age that has ever used the burrow??? What is even going on, and what was the point of even including "grandma" Bunnyx?????
**Side note: Since I'm on a mini Bunnyx tangent right now anyway, I find it odd the times Bunnyx is used to avoid disaster vs not.
Wait MONTHS after Chat Noir is akumatized into Chat Blanc and has killed everyone in Paris; maybe the whole world, who knows?
Don't stop Gabriel making his wish in "Ephemeral"; have Sass use his powers without a holder instead.
Stop Lila from making her wish, but don't stop Gabriel from making his.
I just wish the writers had a better rule-of-thumb for Alix using her power vs not before bringing in an ever-watching time-keeper holder into the mix. -_-

Just when could this memory have been from???
The day he arrived at the orphanage (the day they met) was the day of the catastrophe and the day they were taken underground by the vampires. Right? So just when could this have happened? Lmao there's an awful lot of plot holes recently
From chapter 110 btw.

S3:E11 plot hole
You can see that in the first photo Flora doesn’t have her enchantix yet. She doesn’t have it until the next episode. Yet. For one shot (on the right) you can see her in her full enchantix in one of the shots. I had to rewind it a few times to check what I was seeing.
